The God of the Reversing Vav

Thursday 26 August 2004 - 13:36:04

Since August, I have diligently been studying Hebrew weekly. I should be in the class tonight, but have a bit of a cold, and am preparing to travel with my boss tomorrow, so I stayed away.

My purpose in studying Hebrew is two-fold: to be bat-mitvahed this
October 2000, as I never was as a young girl; and to learn more of
the original language of the Bible, whether it be Hebrew or Greek,
because it opens up many possibilities in learning about God.

My teacher 'teased' us a bit about tonight's lesson, and I want to share it with you.

The sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the Vav, it is almost a
straight line, and it can be a Vee. If you put a dot over it, it is an O. If you put a dot on the left of it in the center, then it is a U. It is very confusing. And Hebrew is very hard!!!

But Hebrew is very beautiful.

There is a language rule called the Reversing Vav; when a Vav is in
front of a verb, it changes the tense of the verb.

If one says - He has gone,
and then you put the Vav in front of it,
the sentence becomes - He will go.

If the sentence says - I came
and you put a Vav in front of it,
the sentence becomes - I will come.

If you really think about it, we serve the God of the Reversing Vav.
Everything in our lives becomes exciting !
Think about it:
the Red Sea - it is water
with the Reversing Vav - it is not water!

Jesus Yeshua was in the storm,
with the Reversing Vav on it,
the storm calmed.

The empty tomb - we thought was death----
it meant life!

We serve the God of the Reversing Vav - no matter WHAT happened in our
life, He is the God of the Reversing Vav,
He came to change the outlook, He came to change the pain,
He came to change the hurt !

You had a bad experience, ask Him to put His reversing Vav on it,
let Him change the bad
to good.
Let Him change what might seem to you as impossible
to possible.
Let Him change what will not be,
to what will be.

After all,
the devil thought the last chapter was that Jesus died.
No, God came and put His Reversing Vav on that tomb,
and the Best is Yet to Be!
Yeshua Jesus is Alive
