Writings by Barri Cae MallinTwinkleThursday 26 August 2004 - 08:55:41Have you been star-gazing in the mornings? Have you seen the beautiful sites of the Crescent Moon, Venus and the Star Regulus shimmering in the early dawn? If you haven't, i encourage you to get up a bit early, hopefully the morning will be clear and look to your eastern and southern sky. It truly is a delight to see these three beautiful celestial delights that God has given. This morning in my devotions, i was reading Psalm 103. Usually, when I think of Psalm 103, i always think of "Bless the Lord, o my soul" for that is the first line of the psalm. Plus, there is a good ole worship song with the same title. But as you read a bit farther down, verses 14-15 read: For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. as for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. God had me dwell a bit on that word - flourishes. When i looked up the > word in Hebrew, it is tsoots - meaning twinkle, bloom, flourish, show self. And i got to thinking about the beautiful early morning sky. Those celestial beauties up there cannot emit light from themselves; they must reflect light. They are glorious twinkles, they are truly showing themselves in full glory in the early sky. How much are we, His Kids, twinkles of His glory as well. We have no light in our selves; however, when we turn to Him, and allow His light to reflect through us, we also become twinkle lights in darkness for Him. And what glory is displayed through us. It is not we; it is never we; just as it is never Venus or the Moon or Star Regulus; it is all the sun. And it is always He; His glory, His light, His Shekinah that radiates through us. So, as every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting of shadow (James 1:17) May we all become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom YOU shine as lights in the world (orot h'olam) (Phil.2:15) May you twinkle for Him today! |
